The House of 1817 has provided one last great edit from Trollhaugen. This was filmed just before Troll closed for the year and features all of your favorite riders. The likes of Joe Sexton, Ethan Deiss, Jake OE, Jeffy, and many more keep this one going. Thanks to the House of 1817 for a great year of snowboard edits, we are looking forward to the movie! Well, this looks like the end of snowboarding coverage for the season, so let’s move on to Skate and Wake. 1st big weekend for local resorts.
December 4th, 2009
Finally, the Twin Cities area has had some decent enough weather (and even a little natural snow) for local resorts to make some white stuff. This weekend seems to be “the weekend” for local resorts such as Afton, Welch and Buck Hill to open, and a lot of people are excited. This weekend will be many rider’s first time out this season.
Other resorts that have been open, like Wild and Trollhaugen, will have more runs opening. A couple of the rideMinnesota guys are headed to late night Trollhaugen tonight for their 10pm to 3am session for $15.

Please bring us some cold weather!
November 23rd, 2009
Wild Mountain announced today that they will be closing for the rest of the week due to poor snow conditions. So far they have been the only resort to open in Minnesota and the weather hasn’t been very friendly to other resorts to try and catch up. Most resorts were open at this time last year, yet they keep pushing their opening dates back this year due to warm temperatures. Hopefully we will see the temperature drop after Thanksgiving as the weather forecasters predict. I don’t know about everybody else, but it has been pretty depressing for me to watch places out west such as Mount Baker open their season with powder days. Let’s all hope for colder weather so we can start the season we’ve been waiting for all summer long. In the meantime, make sure you stop by Joe’s Boardshop tomorrow night for a rail jam and an appearance by the Salomon pro team.
Other resorts trying to catch up to Wild Mountain
November 17th, 2009
Wild Mountain has now been open for 3 days, but other resorts are doing their best to catch up. I was at Wild last night and I must say I was impressed with the snow conditions for how little time they had to blow the white gold. Across the river in Wisconsin, Trollhaugen has been making snow whenever possible but hasn’t officially given an opening day yet. Down in the south, Welch Village has started making a little bit of snow and has set November 27th as their tentative opening day. Also near the Twin Cities, Afton Alps has also begun blowing snow but hasn’t predicted an opening date. It looks like there is a series of warm weather headed our way, but let’s hope that doesn’t last long so we can have more places to ride.
Real snow in October!
October 12th, 2009
I’m sure plenty of you were excited this morning when you woke up to a nice covering of the white stuff. The couple inches of snow this morning was exactly what we needed to get even more stoked about the new snow season to come. Get those boards and skis waxed up and keep checking the site to see which resort opens first. Trollhaugen and Wild Mountain have already started making snow but the forecast doesn’t look great for progress. Keep your fingers crossed for colder temps and tell those complainers to move somewhere else… Enjoy the picture of snowy runs courtesy of Welch Village.
