I’m sure by now you are a little sick of hearing about Ryan Paul. The truth is though that he is an amazing snowboarder and deserves all the recognition he is getting lately. After numerous appearances in big-name internet videos lately, he was interviewed recently by Moda3. As always Ryan stayed true to his Minnesota roots and gave some great answers. If you snowboarded a long time ago, you know exactly what a Black Snow Snowboard was. For all of the young kids out there, I will explain it a little bit. Black Snow Snowboards were the kind of boards that you were scared to ride because they were so cheaply made. They first made their debut in the early 80′s but weren’t allowed at many ski resorts because of their lack of metal edges. The Canadian Ski Museum website has a little more info about them. Anyways, enough with the history lesson and on with the video. The video features Jonas Michilot tearing up Hyland on one of these safety hazard Black Snow boards… This video will make you rethink buying the latest and greatest snowboard every year. While we are all sitting here wondering what do with ourselves during the off-season, Ryan Paul is out at Bear Mountain in California. He obviously is making a name for himself because he was featured one of the popular Bear Mountain Sunday in the Park videos recently. Faction Challenge – Andes Tower Hills

The Faction Boardshop has announced the “Faction Challenge” which will be a jump and rail contest. The event will be held at Andes Tower Hills in Kensington Minnesota for all you Western residents. Faction recently announced that their will be a $250 cash prize for this event. Registration will be from 10-11am so get their early to ensure your spot for the contest which starts at 12pm noon. Make sure to get out there and support Faction Boardshop who has been doing a great job of representing Minnesota snowboarding.

Summit Boardshop – Crew Wars

Summit Boardshop is going to be hosting a new kind of competition in their backyard park. The contest titled “Crew Wars” will be a chance for you to put together a crew of riders/skiers that you think can be called the “Dream Team.” Each team must wear distinguishing clothing so it will be a great opportunity to bust out those Gorillas suits. The “wars” will be on January 29th, but make sure you pre-register by January 22nd. You can register by phone or at Summit’s website.
House of 1817 Movie Teaser

Well you may have already seen it on their blog or on Transworld’s Site, but the boys at the House of 1817 have decided to make a movie. This is set to be a must watch flick with tons of local Minnesota riders. House of 1817 has mentioned that, “this movie is just for us to make a movie. no budget, NO sponsors, just homeys, to prove it can be done, well.
