Not too long ago the Hometown Heroes Contest Tour made a stop at 3rd Lair Skatepark in Golden Valley. The skaters showed up in top form and made it hard for the judges to pick a winner. When it was all said and done, Jace Torkelson won first place after nailing a kickflip back smith on the bump to rail. The runners up were Eli Rashad in second and Ricky Nunn in third. Familia, one of the best Twin Cities skateshops, was recently interviewed by Frank151. They chose to interview Familia’s founder Tucker Gerrick. In case you didn’t already hear, 3rd Lair Skatepark in Golden Valley just built a giant vert ramp. Their skatepark already features an amazing setup inside, but they decided to top it offer with a jaw-dropping monster outside. Even if you pee your pants just looking at it, make sure to get out to Golden Valley and be amazed. Even the City Pages decided to send one of their photographers out to take shots of it. Damage Boardshop in Duluth is encouraging everybody to take a part in Earth Day 2010. They are asking everybody to please not use a motorized vehicle for the whole day today. This means you can take your skateboard, bike, rollerskates, or whatever wheeled toy you might have. Damage is then inviting everybody to the Northstar Pub at 7pm for a little evening fun run which you shouldn’t miss. It’s always fun terrorizing the streets with a pack of skaters. Even if you aren’t in Duluth, please try and ditch your motor for as long as possible today just to say thanks to the earth.
Familia Skateshop is always good at coming up with interesting ideas involving the Minnesota skate scene. This time they are holding a small event at the Red Stag Block party involving the famous Red Wave sidewalk feature. Come out and try to win the cash prize.
