granitePeakButterStick2011

The park crew at Granite Peak over in Wisconsin has been putting in some serious work this year. Tons of perfectly manicured features have been implemented this year and people are taking notice. Recently local clothing company Butterstick Inc made a nice little edit to show you what is going down out there in cheese land. Check out the footy and also some pics the park crew sent us.

Granite Peak Teases us with New Park Features

granitePeakNewJibs2010

Granite Peak has been raising the bar when it comes to park features in the last year or two. This time they unveiled several new log/pole jib features which will be located in the wooded areas of the resort. This is definitely a first for a Minnesota/Wisconsin resort and I have to tip my hat to them for doing it. Get in your car and drive to that little Wisconsin town of Wausau this season and try them out!

Monday Minute – Granite Peak

The House of 1817 has a guest edit this week that was shot at Granite Peak in Wisconsin. Granite Peak made a few mistakes earlier this year, but their park is still one of the best around. Make sure to head out there this season if you get a chance. This video edit is produced by Sam Fenton who you might know from Bald E-Gal Productions. Riders Ethan Deiss, Cody Beiersdorf, and several others throw down pretty good in this one. Check it out by clicking the “read more” link below.

Granite Peak bans Snowboarders on 3 Runs!

granitePeakWTF

Snowboarders were shocked lately when Granite Peak (Wisconsin) announced that they will be not allowing snowboarders on certain runs this year.  The resort has posted a trail map on their website that shows the runs that are set to be “skier only.”  Currently there are 6 runs listed as “Skiing only,” but Granite Peak has mentioned that it will be reduced to 3.  President and owner Charles Skinner said, “Skiers have told us that the rhythm, turn radius, and visual orientation is different for skiers and snowboarders, and that they would enjoy a few runs dedicated just to skiers.  We are now responding to this request by the dedication of three runs for this purpose.” The new policy is not currently listed on the Granite Peak Web site, but Skinner says it will be explained in an updated version of the resort’s site scheduled to launch shortly.
