The WWA Wakeboard World Championships were held right here in Minneapolis during the last weekend up July. If you didn’t make it, we’ll tell you now that the conditions weren’t exactly ideal. Even with the extreme choppiness, the competitors put on quite the show. Wakeboarding community site WakeWorld provided some hightlight videos from some of the action. Watch the videos in front of a fan with your oven on and you will truly feel like you were there.
This year the MN Spring Ride Wakeboard competition was born and proved that it is here to stay. The event was extremely well organized and everybody that attended had a good time. We look forward to seeing it grow over the next couple years. Phun Promotions even made an appearance all the way from Texas to make a little highlight video from the weekend.
Local videographer Alex Horner put together 3 great edits last year as part of the Trick Jibbery series. He is now back to show us his fourth creation which features the wake skills of Josh Tranby, Mike Liddle, and more. This one was filmed down in Orlando, but the riders still make it Minnesota relevant.
The delayed spring in Minnesota was great for late-season snowboarding, but the wakeboarders had to wait longer than normal for the water to warm up. There have been a a few brave souls though that risked the shrinkage and jumped in the frigid waters. Once such crew is made up of Colin Ryan, Jay Fogelson and Chase Mastel. Check out what they threw down on their first time out. Damn….
