10K Wakes Takes the Summer Off

Just in case you haven’t already heard Minnesota’s cable park 10k Wakes is taking the summer off all in the divine search for greener pastures. Looks like they will be moving their facility from New Germany to Blaine. This will be good news to many seeing as how most of the population has never even heard of New Germany much less want to travel there on a regular basis. For all those in need of aquatic thrills this summer you’ll just have peruse the lakes in search of that kind soul with room for one more. 10K is set to open up shop again in 2012.

This year the MN Spring Ride Wakeboard competition was born and proved that it is here to stay. The event was extremely well organized and everybody that attended had a good time. We look forward to seeing it grow over the next couple years. Phun Promotions even made an appearance all the way from Texas to make a little highlight video from the weekend.

Local videographer Alex Horner put together 3 great edits last year as part of the Trick Jibbery series. He is now back to show us his fourth creation which features the wake skills of Josh Tranby, Mike Liddle, and more. This one was filmed down in Orlando, but the riders still make it Minnesota relevant.

The delayed spring in Minnesota was great for late-season snowboarding, but the wakeboarders had to wait longer than normal for the water to warm up. There have been a a few brave souls though that risked the shrinkage and jumped in the frigid waters. Once such crew is made up of Colin Ryan, Jay Fogelson and Chase Mastel. Check out what they threw down on their first time out. Damn….

Red Bull seems to have an unlimited supply of money and they like to throw it at any crazy idea they can dream up. This concept turns out some creative locations, innovative ideas and amazing videos. This time they pulled together JD Webb, Adam Errington, Minnesota’s own Josh Tranby and even an appearance from Ryan Taylor for some unconventional wakeboarding that only the midwest can produce; The Ice Rail. Take a frozen lake, a chainsaw, a winch and a lot of manpower and you’ve got a wakeboarding set-up like no other. Check out the video to see where your money goes every time you pick up some energy infused Red Bull.
