Here at rideMinnesota we like to display local talent in anyway that we can. Whether it’s riding, filming, photography or whatever you got up your sleeve, we want everyone to see what you can do. Recently, we were scouring the internet and came across a video posted by a local skater named Josh Kelsey. We were impressed with the quality of the video as well as the skating itself and decided that this would be a great opportunity to get things started. We got a hold of Josh and gathered a little info about him so that we could share it with you and also posted the video he created so you can judge for yourself. Check it out.

Interview:

How old are you?
Just turned 19 last month.
Where are you from?
I grew up in Cottage Grove, but moved to Somerset, Wi in 7th grade.

Do you skate or do you mostly film and take photos?
I mostly skate but depending on who I’m with, sometimes all I do is film.
When did you get started with skating/filming/ photography?
Last year i got a crappy camera with graduation money and started to make videos. It brought everyone together more and wanting to actually skate. Then i eventually upgraded my camera setup once i began to like filming.
What kind of equipment do you use?
;I have a Sony VX1000 and a Mark 1 lens for filming. And for photos i have a Canon AE-1 with the 50mm lens and a zoom lens.
What are yours or your groups favorite places to skate?
Well mostly Minneapolis, once in a while St. Paul. We usually hit up undercover 5 stair set, Crack banks, and anything else that’s fun.
Who are the skaters you run with and show up in your videos?
Weston Florhaug, Dana Ross (aka Pizza), Casey Anderson. I’ve been meeting a lot of new people recently so in upcoming videos are Ryan Yost, Jeff Hart, Nate Meister and Nick Thron
Do you have any plans for your future in video or is this just a hobby for now?
The idea of a video has been tossed around, but it wouldn’t be for a while.  I like it as a hobby, but producing a video would be pretty cool.
Anything else you’d like us to know?
Have fun, never take anything too seriously and never burn bridges.
Make sure to use the comments section to give your opinion of the video and skating just make sure you keep kosher (constructive criticism good, angry rants bad). You can check out more of Josh on his Youtube Channel; TheJKelsey’s Channel. If you would think you’ve earned a spot on our site be sure to send us your info, videos, pictures or whatever gibberish you’ve got and we will siphon through them to see if we can get you the recognition you deserve.
Show us some love:
